About The Culham School
The European School Culham is located in the countryside
about 10 Km to the south of the famous University
town of Oxford. The school enjoys the benefits of
spacious landscaped grounds. Its listed buildings
date back to the 1850s when it was a leading teacher
training college. Its sporting facilities include
a gymnasium, a modern Sports hall, a large sports field
and tennis courts.
The European School Culham opened in 1978 to educate
the children of scientists working on the nearby Joint
European Torus project. It is now able to welcome
pupils from the wide local international community.
It has five language sections : German, English, French,
Italian and Dutch offering mother-tongue tuition.
In addition Danish is offered to Danish pupils, who
are integrated into the English section.
Its pupils live in a wide area, with bus services
from Oxford (north, east and west), Abingdon and as
far as Reading. Its nearest station, Didcot, offers
a fast service to London (Paddington).
